Labeling Requirements NOM-050-SCFI for Mexico

Starting on October 1, 2020, import of certain industrial chemical products into Mexico may get delayed at the border. Mexican regulatory authorities are no longer allowing an exemption for industrial products to meet the full labeling requirements of NOM-050-SCFI. Labels for industrial products such as lubricants, greases, waxes, brake fluids, and oil additives must now include the following elements written in Spanish: a generic description of the product if not already in the name, net contents of the product, name and legal address of the importer, country of origin, hazard warnings, instructions when needed, and where applicable, an expiration or consumption date. BASF uses a North American GHS label that includes all required elements for Canada, Mexico and the United States to minimize relabeling at the border and avoid any delays.
