The first open and collaborative data ecosystem

Together we are stronger! BASF is an active member of Catena-X Automotive Network, an alliance for secure and cross-company data exchange in the automotive industry. The goal of Catena-X is to create a network that connects various stakeholders in the automotive supply chain, including automakers, suppliers, and service providers.

Be part of it and support the first collaborative and open data ecosystem for the automotive industry! As part of Catena-X, you will also benefit from secure and end-to-end data exchange in the automotive value chain.

The fact that BASF is now involved in the founding of the first company shows our strong commitment to the automotive industry and our innovative strength, which we are putting into the balance here to help drive a completely new type of collaboration.“

Why do we need an end-to-end data ecosystem?

The transformation of the automotive industry is in full progress - the availability of resources and demands for greater sustainability, the complexity of global supply chains, and external influences such as geopolitical, pandemic, or climatic events confront all players with major challenges. Here we share mutual and pressing issues which we only can solve together.

What is Catena-X and what does it offer the automotive industry?

BASF has joined forces with some of the key players in the global partner network Catena-X to connect automotive manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers throughout the entire supply chain, enabling them to establish a secure flow of information and data exchange.

As simple, secure and independent as never before

Catena-X is the first collaborative, open and decentrally organized data ecosystem for the automotive industry of the future – with uniform standards and common principles. It networks global players to form end-to-end value chains. The goal is standardized, global data exchange based on European values. The claim is data sovereignty: Whoever makes data available retains control and decides individually who is involved in the data exchange, how, when, where and under what conditions. Catena-X ensures secure and reliable implementation.

From small and medium-sized companies to big corporations: Standardized data exchange and the ability to use cross-company applications offer all companies, investment security and strengthen their competitiveness in the long term. Thanks to the end-to-end use of data, they can all create new value - and develop new business models. Catena-X already has over 170 members from various automotive-related industries.

We are proud to join the automotive alliance as a member of the first hour. Building on our broad and deep industry know-how, we are committed to drive forward the collaboration towards a more efficient and sustainable automotive value chain.“

New business opportunities and profitability – from midsize companies to large corporations: Catena-X improves the competitiveness of all participating companies. Enabled and implemented are use cases for digital, end-to-end supply chains with secure, sovereign and standardized data exchange. Participation in Catena-X is rewarded: with above-average resilience, innovative strength and earnings opportunities. Additionally, Catena-X is open! Other industries and ecosystems can be integrated at any time.

As the leading chemical supplier to the automotive industry, we see tremendous opportunities in operating an ecosystem based on standardized digital services and harmonized data models. This will strengthen supply chain resilience, improve transparency, and accelerate the transformation towards circularity and net zero carbon footprints across many material categories."

There are significant advantages in our cooperation. With Catena-X, common processes are optimized. They become more digital, leaner, more sustainable and faster.

In the Catena-X target scenario, platforms such as supplier/B2B portals no longer need to be operated, as the data required for collaboration is exchanged digitally between the partners in an automated manner. In addition to efficiency advantages, higher resilience in the supply chain and important progress in the topic of sustainability of our products, the network around Catena-X promises more efficient quality & logistics processes, higher transparency with regard to sustainable CO2 reduction as well as simplified master data management.

Continuously connected data chains in this way make it possible to develop innovative business processes and service offerings.

The alliance of Catena-X and Cofinity-X proves: Together we are stronger!
