Chemetall Receives Airbus SQIP Award 2024

Once again, Chemetall has been recognized for its outstanding performance at Airbus. At the awards ceremony for the best suppliers held in Toulouse in April, Chemetall was awarded the prestigious "Accredited Supplier" status. This is the highest recognition in Airbus' Supply Chain & Quality Improvement Program (SQIP) and demonstrates Chemetall’s ongoing commitment to excellence in quality and being a trustworthy, reliable partner for Airbus. Chemetall has now received this award for the eighth consecutive year.

With production sites in Langelsheim, Germany, and Soissons, France, Chemetall supplies several Airbus sites and subcontractors around the world with its products, including Naftoseal^® aircraft sealants, Ardrox^® corrosion protection products, Ardrox^® cleaners, and pre-treatment technologies.

The Airbus SQIP Program

The aim of the Airbus SQIP Program is to advance major strategic Airbus suppliers toward the goal of industrial excellence regarding product quality and delivery reliability. Every year, the performance of each supplier is reviewed and either confirmed or, in case of non-conformity with the quality standards, downgraded or even rejected.

Over more than 25 years, Chemetall and Airbus have established a long-lasting and successful business relationship. Aluminium Global Competence Center

The Surface Treatment global business unit of BASF’s Coatings division, operating under the Chemetall brand, celebrated the opening of its new global Aluminum Competence Center in Giussano, Italy. The state-of-the-art facility will strengthen Chemetall’s position as a global supplier of solutions for the surface treatment of aluminum substrates.

Cooperation with Renault Trucks

Renault Trucks and Chemetall started a cooperation for one pretreatment line at Renault’s site in Blainville near Caen, Normandy, France, where Chemetall succeeded by implementing the zinc-phosphate Gardo®Flex technology. Thus, Renault Trucks can save costs for energy and water consumption, as this process runs at lower temperatures and offers a longer bath service life.

Largest surface treatment site globally

The Surface Treatment global business unit of BASF’s Coatings division, operating under the Chemetall brand, celebrated the inauguration of its state-of-the-art surface treatment production site in Pinghu City, Zhejiang Province, China. Spanning across 60,000 square meters, the Pinghu site is BASF’s first production site located in the Dushan Port Economic Development Zone and its largest surface treatment site globally.

Outstanding solution for Ford Valencia

BASF supplies Ford Valencia with the CathoGuard^® E-Coat, which protects surfaces, edges and cavities or hard-to-reach areas of a car's body against corrosion. The coating process requires the electrodeposition tank to be in optimal cleaning conditions. To achieve this, Ford introduced Gardostrip^®, a highly efficient paint cleaning technology.
